From refurbishing his own food truck to building a 115,000-strong TikTok following, Otello Calvert’s journey to becoming an award-winning Chef in Glasgow with his pop-up restaurant Tagliotello has been anything but straight-forward.

“When I started creating content I didn’t want to pander. If I’m doing this I’m going to do it the way I get to be me.”

Moving from uninspiring job to uninspiring job Otello eventually realised his passion had been with him all along, inspired by memories of visits to see family in Italy and his grandmother’s cooking he jumped feet first into the culinary world.

Documenting his journey along the way, Otello’s TikTok channel became a platform for him to be frank about the trials and tribulations of making it on the food scene, as well as promoting his food truck and brand. He was able to build a following of thousands by always being authentic, honest and open.
